Housing for the Next Generation of New Yorkers
Founder’s Hall was made possible through a series of unique public-private partnerships. Hudson worked closely with New York University to design and build this 26-story dormitory with over 700 beds for first-year students. The large scale was made possible by Hudson purchasing air rights from a neighboring landmarked United States Post Office. The tower itself is set back from the sidewalk behind the façade of the former St. Ann’s church that once stood on the site, thus maintaining the continuity of the streetscape and the pedestrian experience. The building also contains student lounges, offices, and a fully integrated Building Management System (BMS) to optimize energy usage. NYU purchased the property from Hudson after the first year of occupancy.
